My name is Sue Chandler and I am one of the parish children’s workers. I have worked in Solihull parish now for more than ten years, which may come as a bit of a surprise to some of you who will probably never have heard of me! The reason for this is that I attend a different church on Sundays as I am also an ordained Self-Supporting Minister in the Church of England, and currently Assistant Priest at St. Margaret’s in Olton. I help my colleague Linda Hicks to run the Praise and Play group on Friday mornings. I lead a Godly Play group in St. Alphege Infant School, and I help to lead infant worship in church on Wednesday mornings with our wonderful Open the Book team. With Linda I lead a group called Faithfull (not a spelling mistake!) Families on Tuesday in OBH and Wednesday evening growth groups for children who have gone through the first communion course (which I also help to lead). With Linda and an amazing group of volunteers I help with Messy Church, The Journey to the Stable and the Easter Journey. I do a few other things, but they said one paragraph! It is a huge privilege to do the job that I do, it is the best job in the world actually. To help to welcome children and their families into the church and to walk beside them as they grow in faith is such a joy and huge fun. For me sharing the Gospel with the next generation is a vital part of our lives as Christians. In my spare time I enjoy reading and social gatherings, particularly quizzes. I really like detective shows on television, and can usually spot the villain before the closing credits! One of my great passions is history, I love exploring old houses. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
